MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Adel congregation of the Lord's church is to carry on the mission given to the church you read about in the New Testament. We seek to:
- Glorify and honor God through worship according to the New Testament (John 4:24)
- Preach the gospel of Christ to all the world (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15-16)
- Equip and build up fellow Christians (Ephesians 4:1-17)
- Love one another with a pure heart (I Peter 1:22)
- Help the poor and down trodden, especially those of the household of faith (Matthew 25:35-40, Galatians 6:10)
VALUE STATEMENT
Adel Church of Christ confirms its commitment to follow the principles of the first century church Jesus built. We speak where the Bible speaks and remain silent where the Bible is silent. We hold that in matters of faith, unity; in matters of opinion, liberty; in all things love. The church of the New Testament is the kingdom of God waiting to be presented at the judgment as the pure bride of Christ. We assemble on the first day of the week for Bible study, worship, and fellowship, as was done by the first century church. We also meet on Wednesday nights for Bible Study, edification, and fellowship. It is our firm desire to simply be New Testament Christians; nothing more and nothing less.
CORE BELIEFS
- God is Sovereign and the Creator of the Universe and everything therein. It is our duty to love Him as our Father with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.
- Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God (deity), who as the eternal Word became flesh, and lived among men. It was through Him that the Universe was Created (John 1:1-3). He died on the cross for the world's sins, was resurrected from the tomb, and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father in Heaven. He is the King of Kings, Lord of lords, and the mediator between Christians and the Father. He will one day judge the world in righteousness. (Acts 17:31)
- The Holy Spirit is deity and one of the triune Godhead with the Father and Jesus the Christ. He is the medium through which God provided the Scriptures. He seals the faithful Christian as a guarantee of eternal inheritance. (Ephesians 1:13, 14) He aids the Christian in prayer. (Romans 8:26)
- The gospel of Christ is the good news concerning the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. There is salvation in no other name than Christ. (Acts 4:12)
- Salvation is received through individual obedience to the gospel call by believing that Jesus is God's only son, confessing Jesus as Lord and Christ, repenting of sins, being baptized by immersion in water for the forgiveness of sins, and then pursuing a faithful life with Jesus as Lord.
- When one complies with the above steps to salvation, the Lord adds that one to His one true church.
- The Bible is the inspired (God-breathed) word of God and the sole authority given for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness that the man of God may be adequately equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17) It is the word by which all men will one day be judged. (John 12:48)
